Thumbs down use of to infinitive

I look forward to watching the football match.
is this sentence correct? if so why?

"Look forward to" is a verbal expression followed by a gerund or by a noun[or a noun phrase]:

I look forward to watching...-correct

I am looking forward to watching...- correct

I look forward my vacation - correct
