Smile my first stop/stand

The Tower of London was my first stop/stand after a good night's sleep. The famous fortress/castle/fort and prison is located on the River Thames, near the Tower Bridge.

Do all of the words beside slashes all fit in the above context and convey the same ideas as the one beside it? Thanks.

My answers. P.S. I am not a teacher
  1. " The Tower of London was my first stop"...sounds more appropriate.
  2. The Tower of London is a fortress. Fortress and castle mean the same thing .' a fortified place,a large and permanent fortification sometimes including a town '. Fort means ' a fortified place occupied by troops/army.'
