Mozaffary, it would be perfect if definitions could be given.

it's good to know that u in a C + u + C + a form never pronounce /ju:/ $ /u:/ so it couldn't be.

C = Consonant

I'm terribly sorry but could you be so kind as to explain to me once again what you think my mistake was.

From what has been said there is more than one prefix and suffix to the word formulate. Each one will have a different meaning. Please can you give the contex in which you wish to use the word.

And here we run up against the age-old question: when is a root not a root?

The word "formula" was borrowed intact from Latin; but in Latin, the root is "form(a)" and "-ula" is a suffix, usually anglicised to "-ule".

Thus "globule" is actually made up of the root "glob" (a drop or a soft mass) and the suffix "-ule".

Sadly, the neat little compartments we label "root" and "suffix" and "prefix" aren't always as clear-cut as we would like.

For the purposes of the original question, I'd submit that "formula", because it was borrowed in its entirety, can be seen as a root; after all, we don't normally think of a formula as a "little form" or in any connected with forms.
