I donīt understand these idioms:
downward spiral = when a price, etc. is decreasing, or when a situation is getting worse and is difficult to control because one bad event causes another: for instance, at present the American Stock Market is in a downward spiral.
tuned into me You tune into a radio station = metaphorically you are tuning into another person's thoughts and character.
playing villains Pretending to be evil people
an edgy person Someone who reacts strongly and quickly to possible criticism.
it can turn nasty A situation that might become unpleasant can turn nasy.
the be hogging the limelight Actors who push themselves into the spotlight on the stage at the expense of the others in the play are hogging the limelight. So it means to push yourself into the foreground and take up all the attention.
test the water If you go swimming and put your toes into the water before getting in, you are testing the water. So to try out something before committing yourself to it.
