my college essay
Could you tell me the correct grammer for this sentence?
I lay on the ground and could not bend my knee.
or
I laid on the ground and could not bend my knee.
The grammer check says "Lay", but my son believes it is laid in the past tense.
The sentence before reads, That was me this past summer. I laid on the ground and couldn't feel my knee.

Lay.
The chicken laid four eggs yesterday, but I lay on the bed, exhausted.

The grammer check says "Lay", but my son believes it is laid in the past tense. I think your son is correct.
The sentence before reads, That was me this past summer. AS I laid on the ground, I couldn't feel my knee.
