    Smile uncaring/absentminded/indifferent

According to this passage, what do people think of cats?
    They are cool and uncaring.

Which is closer to uncaring semantically in the above, absentminded or indifferent? Thanks.

Indifferent is by far the more descriptive. Absent minded infers a lack of concentration rather than a lack of concern. Cats are very self-centred and - by definition - indifferent to the concerns of other beings.
