Hello,
I have a question.
A movie director is talkinb about an actor.
The director audtioned the actor, but was not able to have him
because the studio didn't want him.
The director says;
"It was 5 weeks later, he was in London being fitted for what rags we could stick on him."
I don't understand what he meant by "rags".
Does he mean "The actor was in London and doing so remarkable job tha
the director wanted to have him" or "The actor was in London being so
miserable that the director wanted to help"??
Thank you,
Tara
He was in London being fitted for clothes. "Rags" is a slang term for "clothes". The clothing trade is known as "the rag trade".
It seems more likely that the director got his way and hired the actor.
Hello Anglika,
Thank you for your kind explanation.
If I understand correctly, it means when the director
looked for the actor, he was doing trial fitting in London.
Thank you,
Tara
