Default went out for pizza

Is pizza plural? Which one is correct?

He delivers a pizza
He delivers pizza
He delivers pizzas

We went out for a pizza
We went out for pizza

Is this the same as
We went out for cake and not We went out for cakes

A pizza is one pie
Two or more pizzas are two or more pies

When you go out for pizza you are going for a few slices and not several pies so most people would say "We are going out for pizza." but if you want to be grammatically correct and you are going out for more than one pizza it would be correct to say... We are going out for pizzas. and yes, it is a lot like saying "We went out for cake" and not "We went out for cakes"
