Cool What is the meaning of the word SAW in the following contexts:

1. If you want to get a good crop of greens in your garden you have to saw the seeds in late March.

2. They were very proud of their saw and her six piglets.

Thank you in advance,

Madox

The word is 'sow' not 'saw', Mad-ox. In the first, it means 'plant seeds' and in the second 'sow' is the name of the female of some species such as pigs and bears.

The word is "sow"
1) to plant seed for growth especially by scattering (verb)
2) an adult female swine (noun)

The ‘saw’ in your 1st sentence has the usual meaning as a verb. The 2nd ‘saw’ as a noun is a puzzling one! It doesn’t relate to 2 of the usual meanings of the word. Perhaps someone can help you here. Meanwhile please ensure you’ve got the word right or provide further clarification.

Thank you for having enlighten my foggy brain. These sentences were in an exercise. Obviously, I solved them wrongly. Now I see my mistake. It is not saw but sow. In this case I understand the meaning of these two sentences.

Thank you again,

have a nice weekend,

Madox

Thank you, I got your point. Indeed, it was my mistake.
