Default The ARTICLE

Could you please explain the usage of an indefinite articles before uncountable nouns proceded by adjectives, for instance:

I am looking forward to an everlasting friendship
or
I am looking forward to everlasting friendship.

And it would be very helpful of you if you provide a detailed answer with a wide range of examples.
Thank you so much. This forum is something to crow about, indeed.

In your example, I would say 'an everlasting friendship' because I am referring to an instance of friendship (with that person), not friendship in general.

Beware of doing this when [you are] in Pakistan, especially when looking at a woman. Otherwise, you will not find any single friendly person around you.

Just how I would say this...hope you don't mind
