I was writing the other post and I came up with this sentence and started wondering whether it was correct (grammatically that is):

1-The English language has perhaps changed as regards the progressive tense.

What about:
2-The English language has perhaps changed regarding the progressive tense.
3-The English language has perhaps changed with regard to the progressive tense.
4-The English language has perhaps changed as concerns the progressive tense.

In all those cases, I would use "perhaps" at the beginning.

I prefer 3, then 2.

Yes I would. As a conjunction "as" requires that a full clause follow it. In 1 and 4, there is no subject for the clause.

I'd just like to add that the prgressive is an aspect not a tense.

Some people call it a tense.
