What is the term used to define the words like ‘bout or plantin‘?

I do not know the second term at all, but the first one is

I think the question is in fact about the way in which writers try to show dialect pronunciation: 'bout for about; plantin' for planting, where an apostrophe has been used to indicate a missing letter. I am not sure if there is a specific term for it.
