I'd like to ask about the meaning of the phrase "as provided by". The context is as follows: several military units successfully accomplished the mission and are flying back home on the plane.
The hero of the day was Private Ricardo Vega, who was on his third tequila of the night -- or maybe it was his fourth, he was sarting to lose track -- as provided by Sergeant Goodier.
What does "as provided by" mean here? Does it mean that Vega was the hero of the day according to Sergeant Goodier, i.e. he said that Vega was the hero?
And does "was on his third tequila" mean that he was drinking the third mug/glass of tequila? |
