Hi, teachers.

I would like to ask what the difference is with/without the use of "being" in the following two sentences:

(i) I favour teachers being given higher salaries. (with being)
(ii) I saw a rat caught in a trap.(without being)

I would like to ask what the difference is with/without the use of "being" in the following two sentences:

(i) I favour teachers being given higher salaries. (with being) The situation is ongoing and continuing.
(ii) I saw a rat caught in a trap.(without being) Two interpretations of the sentence as it stands: you saw a rat [that has been] caught in a trap OR you saw a rat [as it is] caught in a trap - this second one would be clearer with "being" included.
