I wouldn't call "eine" a suffix in English. Most of the words that end in eine come from words having similar letter sequences in the language of origin:

caffeine
cysteine
seine
codeine
madeleine
vicereine

Could it be that "guest" is talking about -ine, which is a suffix:

1) Heroine, a female hero; Katherine (female noun or name)
2) Chlorine, gasoline, idodine (chemical, substance)
3) Equine, (pertaining to a horse); marine (pertaining to the sea)
4) Saccharine, (made of)
