What is the difference between the words stocks, shares and securities ?

Stocks = part of the ownership of a company which people buy as an investment
Share[s] = [one of ]the equal parts into which the ownership of a company is divided and which can be bought by members of the public
Securities = investment in a company or in government debt which can be traded on the financial markets and which produces an income for the investor
