Thank you for being so generous, Carl but I didn't expect an apology and I don't think that you needed to offer one. There will be disagreements on language issues, of that there is no doubt, but we're all big kids here and we can all stand a bit of give and take, ... I hope.

The point I was trying to make is that even though both forms are correct, I think it is better to not end the sentence with the word "to" especially in formal or business writing.
