Hi all,
What is a "thingery"?
Is it a thingamajig?
Is it a shop where to buy thingamajigs?
No joke, friends, i'm lost about this term...
Context: a conversation about shopping and consumer habits «...They could have made play with the idea of "thingery"...»
Thanks
This was new to me as well. I found the following explanation:
"A Thingery is a type of business which turns stuff into Things through a process which is much like spinning straw into gold, mainly marketing their wares online.
Thingeries are entrepreneurial, independent and usually eco-responsible.
They are consumer-focused, often offering a variety of Things which at first glance seem unassociated with each other, but that is exactly their attraction. They are consumer-driven and consumers actually prefer a chaotic ever-changing collection of things when browsing on the Internet."
Could you please quote the source if available? at the moment in which the conversation was held, no internet existed... but for sure this may be of help as the root should be alike.
May be also some kind of exchange-based commerce or market booth (tipically individualistic & entrepreneurial)... What do you think?
Thanks a lot

It doesn't help much as Carl quoted it verbatim.
This is recent slang term that hasn't even made it into slang dictionaries. If you are into making "stuff" for this type of venture then I suppose it is useful but at a total of a little more than 1000 Google hits, it isn't used very much....yet.
