I took an example out of Oxford dictionary:
The figures are not very good when measured against those of our competitors
I wonder if it could be like:
The figures are not very good when being measured againts those of our competitors
Does it adhere to the rule?![]()

'Being' does change the meaning; it means that the figures are only not good at the time of the measurement. You may be doing the measuring now, but the comparison with outlive the measurement.
