Smile The old car shuddered as it bounced over the rough road.

The old car shuddered as it bounced over the rough road.
The old car trembled/tremored/quaked as it leaped/hopped/jumped over the rough road.

I wonder if the second versions sound as good as the first in the above. I appreciate your correction. Thanks.

I don't think so- trembled/tremored suggest fear or cold, and quake suggests fear or earth tremors to me.

    Wink meaning of shuddered

yup the meaning of shuddered is

To shiver convulsively, as from fear or revulsion.
    To vibrate; quiver:
    example is
The airplane shuddered in the turbulence.
ihop ur confusions have been erased...cheers

I agree with Tdol. I might tremble or quake if I was frightened, and the earth might tremor, but I wouldn't ordinarily apply those terms to a car. The other words (leaped/hopped/jumped) work even less well.

    How about:
The old car vibrated violently as we bounced along down the rough road. I was afraid pieces of it would be flying off any second and then I would soon be flying out of the car myself.
    What do you think?

    You're quite welcome.

What do you think about my sentences? (I edited the first one slightly.)

    Hi, Ron.
I forgot to say that I'm enamoured of your version. It sounds classic!
