    Default Now or later?

Please can anyone settle a debate...?

I know that 'I'm going home now' is correct, but is it incorrect to say 'I'm now going home'??

    Thanks

It's acceptable either way, but the connotations are different. "I am now going ..." is a formal announcement of something that is going to happen; it's like the common station announcement "The train now standing at Platform N is the ...".

So a person might say to a friend 'I'm going home now'. But someone wanting to make a Big Thing of their going might say: 'This party is a boring waste of time. I've had enough. I am now going home.' It's quite 'stagey'; a conjurer might say 'I am now going to saw this lady in half.'
