    Default about a relative pronoun

Could you tell me if this sentence is correct or not?

"There was a pause in the conversation, during which I looked around the room."

I understand that a relative pronoun can be used with a preposithion

such as "in which" , "at which", but is "during which" common to use?

    The sentence is fine.
However, this 'phraseology' is literary, what you would find in a book. A causal speaker would say, "...so I had a look around the room."
