Default sentence meaning

I can't understand this sentence meaning clearly.

Could you tell me about this sentence below ?

"Can you imagine where we would be now if, after the first heart

transplant was performed, the doctors performing it had been told,

"Sorry, you've gone too far. Heart transplants will no longer be allowed."

And why "," comes after "if" ?
And also why "performing" is progressive form?
And why the past perfect is used in the line "it had been told" ?

Well, performing here is an adjective. it means that these are the doctors who perform it
as for past perfect and if they are connected, it's conditional. that is, "in case of this situation what will be?"

you see? if not, I will try to explain in other words

Dear Lovely_teacher,

Thank you very much for answering my question.

If you may, may I ask you again to make things more clearly?

Roughly spaking, does the above sentence means that

"Can you imagine where we would be now if the first heart transplant

was performed." ?.

I guessed this sentence meaning again. Please permit me to write long

sentence.

I think this is in the imaginal situation. "If the first heart transplant was

perfomed by the doctors who had been told that they had performed it

(=the heart tlansplant) which won't be allowed anymore (and the doctors

were thought that they were excess due to doing the first tlansplant) ,

where we would be now? " Is it a close interpretation what you think?

to my mind the meaning is the following:

If the first heart transplant was

perfomed and then the doctors were told that this heart transplant operation won't be allowed anymore ,

where we would be now? "

or the doctors performed this type of operation. but then somebody says "this operation will never be done again" what would be?

don't know if it's a better explanaition. I did my best;)

Consider the effect on people with heart disease if (after the first one had been done) the doctors had been told that in future they will not allowed to carry out heart transplants.

hi...plz help me in understanding these following sentences also with the proper explanation in red...i shall be very grateful to you...thanks! :)

1) I have known people, left out of meetings that had almost negligible relevance to them, become incandescent over what they perceived as deliberate downgrading attempts.

2) Always read the agenda and papers before a meeting and, without taking up an inflexible position, clarify your thoughts as to what you would like to achieve from the meeting.

3) Don't overcommit yourself. Meetings are a bit like auctions. In the to and fro of discussion it's easy to get carried away and make undertakings you later regret. There's a natural wish to make a good impression in front of colleagues, but don't let yourself be tempted into taking on too many responsibilities or offering unrealistic target dates for completion of work.

4) The first important point about delegation is that it should not be a knee-jerk reaction to your own overload. It isn't a matter of offloading tasks you don't want to do, but a contribution to overall productivity by placing reponsibility and the neccessary authority and resources where they can be discharged most effectively.

5) Read the first and last para of document. Now, when you move to read the document properly, you will be filling in the gaps rather than starting with a blank sheet. You will know which are the parts you need to concentrate on, and which you can blast thorugh or skip together.
