Sam is better than any other student/s in his class.
Should I use student or students in the above? Thanks.
Angli,
I would go with:
Sam is better than any other student in his class.
Do you know a lot of phrasings that use 'any other...' followed by a plural?
Of course it is implied that he is better than all other students, but the phrasing is more like 'There is not one single student better than Sam...'
