Smile is about consonant and vowel

i really have a problem between this two words because i don,t know when to pronouce it for example:a chair for example is it when a sentence is single is consonant of plural.it really driving so crazy.And the other one is pronoucation between word and world for example if i pronouce word is like i say wed i just want you to put me through.
