Things like, say, eating while standing over the sink, putting out your cigarette in the coffee cup, leaving dirty clothes lying around. There was a trend of self-help books in the 90s, IIRC, directing single women to "create" a beautiful & luxurious life for themselves by little things like always setting a lovely place at the table, ironing pillowcases with lavender water, etc etc, even if they were alone. I'm pretty sure the author is spoofing this kind of thing with poor Bridget, who is so anxious to improve herself. |
