being late
Hi there,
A friend of mine was late for a gathering. Can I say to him like this:
1 Why are you being so late? We have been waiting for you for an hour.
2. Why are you so late? We have been waiting for you for an hour.
3. You are so late.
4.You are so being late.
Question 1
Which one of these is correct?
Question 2
what is the difference between with a 'being' and without 'being' in the above examples.
Thanks so much
pete

Re: being late
Sentence 1 is incorrect - You can have Why are you being so annoying? Or Why are you being so irritable? but not late.
Sentence 2 is fine.
Sentence 3 is fine.
Sentence 4 is incorrect.
