wear one's emotions on one's battlesuit in the field
Hello everyone
I'd like to ask about the meaning of the phrase "wear one's emotions on one's battlesuit in the field" in the following sentence:
For someone who wore his emotions on his battlesuit in the field, Momoa had an amazing poker face, but with a full house, Vega was willing to risk it.
Two soldiers are playing poker and the sentence above refers to one of them. Does the phrase "who wore his emotions on his battlesuit in the field" mean that Momoa usually (when he is not playing poker) doesn't even try to hide his emotions?
Re: wear one's emotions on one's battlesuit in the field
I've never met it, but it seems to imply that apart from when he is playing poker, his emotions are very visible.

This is an amusing twist on a regular phrase, 'to wear one's heart on one's sleeve' which means, make one's feelings apparent. That is, if someone is feeling a particular emotion, they don't try to cover it up. So, in a battle situation, evoking fear and a myriad of other emotions, this soldier 'wears his heart on his battlesuit' - he makes no bones about ( has no hesitation in stating or dealing with something, however awkward or distasteful) showing his emotions and reactions. However in a game of poker, he gives no indication whether he is happy at having a good hand, or bluffing with a poor hand of cards.
