Default one of those people who believes

In L G Alexander's NEW CONCEPT ENGLISH, PRACTICE AND PROGRESS, LESSON 28 (LONGMAN GROUP 1984), the first sentence is:

Jasper White is one of those rare people who believes in ancient myths.

Should the word believes be changed to 'believe'? Is it a typo? We're discussing this these days and nobody knows the answer. Could you help me? Thank you.

"one person who believes" - the verb goes with "one" in this case.
