Hi, teachers.
Could you tell me what "open of face" means? (like "Fair and open of face, with smooth blond hair, and eyes of an icy-blue, he fought with a grace and a delicacy that warmed my heart.)
I have checked several instances of this expression but am not quite sure what it means.
Thank you in advance!
It's not a collocation (fixed expression / idiom) -it's more a metaphor - the author is being a little experimental with language.
The writer probably intends to suggest that the man/boy's face is honest and it is easy to see from his expression what he is thinking.
Thank you for your quick and clear response.
I appreciate it very much.
