Default "to convey"

hi,

i have noticed that "to convey" is very used on this forum.

i am not sure but, it sounds a little bit formal to me.

what is the best verb or phrasal verb that "conveys" the same idea?

"to transmit"?

"to express"?

thanks

'Convey' is a fairly standard usage when discussing meaning; it doesn't strike me as formal. However, of your suggestions, you could use 'express', but I would not use 'transmit'.
