Do you want to know what the grammatical terms are for the underlined words?

1. has worked - present perfect simple form (used for duration) - has / have + past participle
2. verb + preposition + gerund form
3 modal verbs of deduction in the past - must / might + have + past participle.

Not really sure if this is wanted you needed to know...

We really prefer people to make an attempt at their own work. Post what you think and see what others have to say.

I've no clue how this works. Could atleast some one tell me the syntax as to how it works. Pleeezzzzzzzz

1. Susan has worked at the Head office for seven years.

Object+ has/have + at+ object+ c

2. She insisted on paying the bill

Object+ .....not sure

3.He must have stayed at home/ He might have stayed at home

Obejct+ Infinite+ home
4. He's a looser

Object + infinite

I come from a software field and I have no clue how this works. Would appreciate if you could atleast give me a thumb rule as to how it works

Thanks in advance,
AJ

A simple sentence is formed by Subject+verb+object

Clare's post tells you what form the verbs are in the sentences.

1. Susan/ has worked/at /the Head office/ for seven years.

Subject+ has/have + at+ object+ c
Subject+verb+preposition+object+complement

2. She /insisted/on/paying/ the bill

Subject+ .....not sure
Subject+verb+preposition+gerund+object

3.He /must have stayed /at/ home/ He might have stayed at home

Subject+ Infinite+ home

4. He/'s/ a loser

Subject + infinite

I come from a software field and I have no clue how this works. Would appreciate if you could atleast give me a thumb rule as to how it works

Thanks in advance,
AJ
