Cool Conditional tense (cont'D)

Thank you Carl for your answer

I undersand, I could use the future tense as you were suggesting. But suppose I wanted to use the conditional to express this idea. For example, lets say I am aguing with my mom and I do not want her to worry if I go to a pary. I want to tell her I will not overeat. I will stop when I'm stuffed.

Now suppose I wish to convey this meaning using the conditional tense.
May I say:
"Even if there were plenty of food on the table I would stop eating before I got sick" ( Is this correct ?)
or,
Even if there were plenty of food on the table I would stop eating before getting sick" ( Is this correct ?)

Many thanks for your help

Gilles L

Default Re: Conditional tense (cont'D)

Even if there is plenty of food on the table I will stop eating before I become sick.

Even if there is plenty of food on the table I will stop eating before making myself sick.

If you were 21 you could drink beer.

If you were to drink too much beer you would become sick.

If you drink too much beer you will become sick.

These are better...
