Even though she was an extremely talented stage actress, she wasn't above doing some work for television as well.

Although Dr Wilson was a well-known scientist at the university, he wasn't above giving some private maths classes to my daughter when she needed it.

It means that although someone is very good at something, or in a privileged position, then are not too proud to do something which might seem a little 'beneath' them.
