"once that" vs "given the fact"

"i gave her a promotion, once that/given the fact she's a good employee."

"I gave her a promotion once that she's a good employee" - incorrect

You could say "I gave her the promotion once that I saw she was a good employee" - but it doesn't sound as natural as the first example you gave with "given the fact".

"Once that" means when something happens or becomes known.

'I knew my firm would promote me, once that it became clear how hard I worked"

given the fact and assuming that are very similar but I think there is a subtle difference.
Given the fact implies it is proven, it is verifiable.
Assuming that implies that it is taken for granted, accepted to be true without proof.

it is a subtle use of language , I agree, but there is a difference in the way we use the phrases, as "once that" doesn't mean the same thing as "given that".

Your example : "once that she's a good employee, i gave her a promotion" is not grammatically correct .

"Once that" refers to point of time when something became or becomes apparent thus leading to a result or consequence.
"Given the fact that" is like saying because or as.... " I gave her a promotion because/as she is a good employee"

You can say : "Once that I saw she was a good employee, I gave her a promotion".

Or.."Once that she proved herself to be a good employee, I gave her a promotion."
Notice the tenses here....

I second what Deborah said. In addition, it might be better to say:

I gave her a promotion because she is a good employee. We needed somebody to fill the position, and I decided that she would be able to do the job.

if i always use a person + a verb after "once that", is it OK?

"once that I/you/she/we/you/they proved/showed/did/any-verb/etc , ....."

Yes! To put it another way:

Given that (since) the government had raised taxes so much, it was surprising (I was surprised) that it was re-elected.
