We often see sentences with the focus on 'not until' as in:

It was not until he came back that I stopped reading.


I wonder if we can use 'it was...that' structure for a positive sentence as in:

It was until he came back that I worked on my composition.

I'd never seen such a sentence as this until one day I met with it in a test paper set by a Chinese teacher of English. I doubt if the sentence is all right. Could you tell me? Thank you.
