Default Lyrics

Vaya Con Dios sings:

...Annie was a little late
She had to get out of a date with a
Ney, Nah Neh Nah...

What does the middle line mean?
Do I get it right when understand it as: she was looking for an excuse for meeting someone (she didn't want that date) ?

A fad is something very popular, and we assume popular will not last very long.
For example, the hula hoop, Rubik's cube, sudoku puzzles.
I can't find a dictionary reference to "fancy fads" but I've seen the expression apparently referring to electronic gadgets, like the Blueberry or iPod.
Here it seems likely that it's clothing, but let's all listen for "fancy fads" and see if it's becoming part of the language, and if so, just what it means.

Something like: to be the latest craze. And the "s" in fads may indicate it's for clothes (?).

I got the picture. Thank you for that baqarah, really appreciate it.
