'Ingesting' would be appropriate when food, liquid, or some other substance was placed into the body by swallowing or absorbing it. I'm not sure what you would call stuffing your mouth before you actually swallowed!!! Perhaps that would be considered 'ingesting', also.

Perhaps it is, Blouen! But I really don't know of a word that would describe the simple act of putting something into the mouth. There are lots of words to describe what happens after the food is placed in the mouth. Perhaps someone else can offer some insight!

You're right. This one I haven't heard of yet. We've got a Filipino word for it "Subo", a verb meaning to put something into the mouth... it could range from food to anything else placed in mouth.
