Smile during the holiday season

Michael had a special job during the holiday season.

What does "the holiday season" precisely refer to? Is it the time during Christmas and New Year? Thanks.

Angli,

The major 'holiday season' in the US includes Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. It is during this period from the end of November until the beginning of January that shopping, revelry, and gift giving occupy the minds and souls of millions of people.

Cheers,
Amigos4
