    What is the meaning of this phrase?

    A criminal catches a person and proudly says to his gang:
    Tip me your flippers and gaze at my prize catch!

    Seems to me he was making his gang think of the way sea-lions clap their flippers together. It was his way of asking for their applause and approval.
    Not sure why he says tip me though.
