From Betty Blue by Philippe Djian:
"She was always hot to try some strange new position -- things that really knocked me for a loop, left me with my mouth hanging open. I would go back to work with renewed faith in Heaven and Hell, climbing back up on the roofs to fix those little antennas."
What does he mean by go back to work with "renewed faith in Heaven and Hell"?
He probably means that she had a special way of reviving his lost or diminished interest in life, of making him see life clearly again and realise that life has both very good and very bad things.
