Smile The overall sound of Change Me is smoother and more laid-back,

Wang's latest album, Change Me, was released in July 2007. Change Me is indeed a change from the musical style of his previous albums. The overall sound of Change Me is smoother and laid-back.

Is it proper to rewrite the bolded line as the following? Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

The sound of Change Me is smoother and more laid-back overall/on the whole.

Since the original is comparing "Change Me" to previous recordings, you need to retain this comparison:

The sound of Change Me is smoother and more laid-back overall/on the whole than Wang's previous albums.
