Smile about a couple drifting apart.

I was deeply moved by the emotional song about a couple drifting apart.

Does the bolded part mean "about a couple who were separated from each other by fate?" Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

If two people drift apart, they gradually become less friendly and less involved with each

other and their relationship ends.Fate is not necessarily involved in the process.
