Our teacher often tries to relate theory to practice in his lectures.

Our professor often tries to associate theory with practice in his lectures.




Are the above all but identical in meaning? Thanks.

"Relate theory to practice" is correct.

This is the obvious choice. The second sentence would mean the same, but it's not likely that these are the words an Anglo would choose to express the idea.
