Here's my take on today's events...
Hello,
My [/your/his etc.] take on [some subject]...
e.g. "Here's my take on today's events..."
What best approximates this expression?
* Here's my view on the issue of abc is...
* Here's my point of view on the issue of abc...
* Here's how I see the issue of abc...
Or anything closer than that?...
Also, isn't 'take' sometimes used to mean 'attempt', if yes is there any relation to the 'take' in the expression above?
Thanks in advance!!

Re: Here's my take on today's events...
Where I hear this expression is on news broadcasts, where the anchorperson asks the reporter in Beirut, or Beijing, or wherever, "What's your take on the situation?"
To me it sounds like a lazy expression and I find it annoying. "Take" is vague, perhaps intentionally vague, because the speaker doesn't really know what he wants to ask or say.
I think your definitions sum it up pretty well.
I don't like it, but languages change, and new expessions creep in, and on the whole our language becomes more vigorous and forceful. But what's your take on this?
regards

Thank you very much
But what's your take on this?

I don't have to wait for those TV/radio broadcasters/reporters to use any particular word, - as soon as they strike up their incessant blabbering I get nettled ...

Speaking of incessant blabbering, is it January 21 2008 yet?

Hmmm...For what I know, January 21st has been postponed, and, weather permitting, is now expected to take place slightly after January 20th, with the intention of finishing well in time for the beginning of January 22nd. However, alternative arrangements are still being contemplated.
(Lewis Carroll would have done that much better, I suspect...)
So.......what's on January 21st 2008 ???
