I would like to know when will and shall are used as modal verbs. What is the difference between them ?

Generally we use "will" to mean "should do" or "intend to do" and "shall" to mean "must do". However, these terms are frequently used interchangeably in common usage. In legal documents you will see "shall" more frequently.
