Default superman aura

Hi,

1) From the following sentence,

People can be turned off by the superman aura around the book and its conviction that the fantasy we might have about ourselves can be realized.

What exactly the superman aura mean? or is it possible that it implied an incredible success, you know that make the reader feel "too real"?

2) What is a "marketized individual"?

The writer explains that it is a person who ends up as a mere reflection of the captialist economy, pursuing self-improvement only to the extent that it may bring higher status.

But I would like to know what else can be replaced the word "marketized"? Any idea?

3) Though the idea will sound far-fetched or even distasteful to one person, the reassurance that it is possible can be a lifeline for another. Let's not forget that the revention is the very basis of American culture, and this book could not have surfaced in any other place. Look on it as a sort of Statue of Liberty in words.

What does the bold text mean? quite confused. :?

Tks! :D

Superman's aura is a protective force field. I'm not sure on how the author is using it here, though. :(

It appears the author has coined/invented 'marketized individual'. As an adjective, the word 'marketized' means, having undergone change due to the effects of Marketing.
