Default meaning of the word

Could you please explain to me the meaning of the word: "miscue" or "miscues"? I cannot find it in the dictionary.

Ex: Such miscues may result from software problems...

The term comes from the game of billiards, where it means failing to cue [hit] the ball properly. It also is used in theatre to say that someone has been given the wrong cue.

If you use it in a sentence about software problems, you probably mean that the program has in some way failed to operate correctly resulting in errors.

Miscue was originally a billiards term meaning a faulty stroke in which the cue slips. Now in common usage, it is used as a synonym for fault or mistake.
