Why didn't you do it as I told you to do it?
This sentence comes from Raymond Murphy's ENGLISH GRAMMAR IN USE. I'd like to rewrite it as follows:

Why didn't you do it as I told you ?
Why didn't you do it as I told you to?

Are the two rewritten sentences correct?

They are both grammatical; however, they both fail to say that you were told to do something in a particular way, and merely say you were told to do something.
