rode on his hip
Hello everyone.
I'd like to ask about the meaning of "ride on" in the following sentence.
He wore a dark grey uniform, patched but scrupulously clean, soft-soled boots and a breathing mask that rode on his hip.
Does "a breathing mask that rode on his hip" mean that this mask was attached to his hip, i.e. attached to the clothes that covered his hip?

Re: rode on his hip
Yes. The breathing mask was probably attached to his belt and dangled next to his hip.
